Chameleon

December 6, 2016

From my book, Severe Silence (http://amzn.to/2u0ZDbx)

Chameleon

Once my palette consisted only
Of dull brown, ash, and slate
So I could sink anonymously into dry leaves and earth.

Slowly I discovered that I was also capable of

Scarlet, fuchsia, teal, and tangerine.

But when you shout at me I turn a cold shade of blue

And find it hard to return

To my natural colors.
