I am a child of the sea A mermaid stranded in the hills. I need the sea My lifeblood, salty on the lips. I am not the far-gazing horizon type But a collector of debris Washed up by the waves Focusing on every bit of sponge or shell The morning sea-breeze calming The waves teasing closer and closer The sea calling to me to melt Into its depths And be no more And be.
